Nanango

GoldNanango, which was first settled in 1847, is Queensland’s fourth oldest town. The town was established by prospectors.  At one time 700 miners made the Seven Mile Diggings their home.
Traces of gold and gemstones can still be found in the old diggings.Park Logs 3Following the gold rush, timber became a major industry and today agricultural production includes not only peanuts but also olives, cattle, dairy, grain, and wine grapes. The principal industries include coal mining and power generation. There are many interesting things to do and see in and around Nanango including historic Ringsfield House and the nearby Bunya Mountains. Nanango has an excellent Visitor Information Centre next to the Council Chambers.
